- ‘Zwetschgenmännle’ sounds like a magic word and, in a way, it is: in Germany (Nuremberg, to be precise), it is the name given to the little people traditionally made from dried plums at Christmas time and said to bring good luck. Plums are, indeed, a fortunate fruit: bursting with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, they help purify the body while boosting energy and good humour. Our prunes in syrup are the best way to enjoy this delicacy in any season, perhaps as a dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or accompanied by a glass of passito wine. For a healthy snack, try them with walnuts or your favourite dried fruit.
